A.K.RAMAN
A few years before there was lot of hue and cry about globalization. There was lot of confusion about the outcome of globalization. It turned out to be opening up of markets to other countries. As usual it was to the advantage of developed countries. Some developing countries like India and China managed to get some benefit out of it by way of some job opportunities and some export benefits. These benefits also benefited the developing countries more.
I dreamt a dream in midnight of last years last day. Strangely it is about my perception of globalization. Globalization, according to me is removal of all barriers including national boundaries; not just opening of markets. Just think of a world where there are no nations and no boundaries. It would be a passport free and visa free world. A man is free to move to any part of the world as per his wish and live wherever he wants to. That is real freedom. That is the real meaning of old Tamil saying;
“Yaathum oorE, yaavarum kElir.”
“All places are my native place and all humans are my relatives.”
Think of the advantages to the human race if such condition is realized. There would be no armies, but police force would be there to maintain law and order. Huge defense budget the world is spending today would be available for education, agriculture, research and other useful purpose. There would be no need for nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. There would be no U.N. Security Council, no customs department, no deporting. In the absence of borders’ there would be no border disputes. There would be only one currency and there would be free trade automatically. Smuggling would be pushed back to history.There would be no NATO, G8,G80, group of this and group of that.
Osama bin Laden and other and other terrorist organizations would have lost their relevance. There would be no struggle in the name of Tibet, Kashmir etc. There would be one Apex government and many central governments located in various convenient places. They would implement one constitution. Discoveries, inventions and innovations would be freely available to all and there would be no talks on technology transfer. There would be no economic isolation. Whatever God has given is available to one and all. One can add many more advantages the world would get.
World leaders should push for abolition of nationalism and national borders instead of spending time and money by discussing various less important matters. IN THESE DAYS OF GLOBALIZATION, PATRIOTISM IS SORT OF NARROW MINDEDNESS.
